William Russell

Designing a seamless digital experience for users processing a claim through William Russell’s first mobile app. A health insurance product for expats living abroad.

 

THE BRIEF

As a UI/UX contractor for William Russell, my primary objective was to enhance the digital experience for users navigating the claim process through their newly developed mobile app. The app specifically targeted expats living abroad and focused on providing a streamlined health insurance solution. To achieve this, I embarked on a comprehensive design journey that encompassed several key steps.

 
 

THE PROCESS

  1. Understanding the User: I began by immersing myself in the mindset of the expat user base. I conducted user research, gathered feedback, and analysed user pain points to gain insights into their needs, preferences, and expectations when processing a claim.

    2.Visual Style Development: Based on the research findings and William Russell's brand identity, I created a visually appealing and cohesive style for the app. The chosen color palette consisted of green and pink, striking a balance between masculine and feminine tones while providing a contrasting visual experience.

 
 

PROCESS

3: Iconography: I crafted a suite of custom icons that aligned with the app's purpose and visual style. These icons were designed to be versatile and consistently used throughout the app, contributing to a cohesive and intuitive user interface.

4: Reusable Design System: To ensure consistency and efficiency, I established a reusable design system. This system comprised standardised components, typography guidelines, spacing rules, and other design elements.
It empowered the development team to create new app features and screens while maintaining a unified user experience.

 
 

PROCESS

5: Streamlined Claim Process & Pre-Authorisation request I tackled the challenge of simplifying the often complex claim process, transforming it into an intuitive and efficient digital journey. Through iterative design iterations and user testing, I optimised the workflow, reduced friction points, and introduced clear visual cues to guide users seamlessly from start to finish.

 
 

RESULT

The end result of my efforts was a visually appealing and user-friendly mobile app for processing health insurance claims. Users experienced a streamlined digital process that was quick to use and catered specifically to their needs as expats. The visual style I developed, characterised by the green and pink colour palette, struck a perfect balance between masculinity and femininity, contributing to an engaging and memorable user interface.

The result is an elegant and sophisticated product that directs the user through the process of making a health claim, in a seamless and uncomplicated manner, whilst effectively upholding the William Russell brand.
